Minister Responds to CCNS

We are reporting back the response of Minister Belliveau to the recently posted CCNS submittal on coastal planning. We will be having a meeting with Justin Houston and others to talk about implementation of our ideas.

Karen Traversy, CCNS Steering Committee
Dear Ms. Traversy:

Thank you for your submission on behalf of the Coastal Coalition of Nova Scotia regarding the development of the provincial Coastal Strategy.  The input that you have provided, representing 55 organizations and community groups, is extremely valuable to the process.

The ideas and suggestions raised by the Coalition, in respect to the process for developing the strategy and on various policy and governance issues, were well-organized and well-articulated, and my staff have been looking closely at these ideas as they set out the course for drafting the Coastal Strategy.

I recognize the Coalition’s broad interest and expertise as well as its constructive and collaborative approach in working to improve coastal management in Nova Scotia.  As such, I have instructed Justin Huston, Chair of the Provincial Oceans Network, to set  up a meeting with you at your earliest convenience to further discuss the
Coalition’s ideas and how they might be incorporated into the Coastal Strategy process.

Yours sincerely,

Sterling W.W. Belliveau
