TREPA was founded with the immediate objectives of protecting the Tusket River and surrounding areas from environmental damage due to pollution, maintaining a constant vigil for future environmental hazards and working closely with other environmental groups and government agencies to improve legislation so as to better protect the environment.
Its longer term objective are to respond to all environmental concerns having an impact on the Tri-county area, to educate the public to be environmentally conscious, and to expand membership and public support within the community.
I have a lot of concern regarding the run off from the mink farms. Could TREPA contact Nature NS for support? See our website for list of board member.
TREPA is currently supporting the people in the watersheds in their efforts to resolve the pollution issues. We have one board member who is fully dedicated to this issue, attending meetings, keeping us posted of activities and support needs. We welcome any other groups to offer assistance to the local coalition of residents
I am with a group of concerned citizens that is looking at how we can clean up and stop the pollution of the Carleton Branch of the Tusket River. We have established a legal fund to have an environmental lawyer as a consultant and we would like to establish a Waterhed Protection Group. I have no idea of where to start with this, so any assistance you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to attend your next meeting if possible. When would that be scheduled?
Thank you in advance,
Debbie Boudreau
