Nature walk on May 28th

Barred Owls frequent Ellenwood Park

The Saturday, May 28th,  nature walk conducted by Trepa in coordination with the Friends of Ellenwood Park was a great success.  Thirteen people showed up for a hike along the 2km trail at Ellenwood Park.  The group met met at 8:30am. Weather was overcast but mild making for a pleasant morning hike.

Fourteen bird species were sighted the highlight being the Barred owl.  There were painted trilliums, lady’s slippers, witchhazel and other woodland plants along the trail. After the walk tea, coffee and cookies were available in the shelter, courtesy of the Friends of Ellenwood Park.

Thanks to Carol Jacquard for her naturalist knowledge in identifying bird life, often by song, and the spring flowers.
